So what's next? How can we find a job in this new economic environment? What can we do to look better in the eyes of potential employers?

Join IABC/Washington for a discussion on HR, hiring practices in the communication profession and how job seekers can put their best foot forward.

***  From Connie Mayse:

Hi, Ned. I thought of you yesterday when I took a wrong turn during my commute and ended up driving around the US Naval Station Great Lakes (North Chicago, IL), which includes the largest naval training center. Go out to dinner in the Waukegan-Gurnee area (pronounced gur-NEE for you non-natives) any Friday and you'll see fresh-faced sailors enjoying a celebratory meal with their families. Every Friday is graduation day at Great Lakes.

Thanks for the link to the story about Holly Graf, the female Captain Bligh. Not unlike some dry-docked managers I have known, managing by intimidation and fear. Three cheers for the brave souls who complained!

Thanks, Ned. Have a great day-cj

Welcome to the latest edition of the number one Defense Career Opportunities Newsletter, “DEFCON-1,” a networking newsletter featuring job opportunities and career advice for those who are part of the global defense, aerospace, maritime, marine technology and security industry.  DEFCON 1 brings you job opportunities every week, and counts on members like you to submit job listings to share and post in this newsletter.

So what's next? How can we find a job in this new economic environment? What can we do to look better in the eyes of potential employers?

Join IABC/Washington for a discussion on HR, hiring practices in the communication profession and how job seekers can put their best foot forward.

This month, we present Ned Lundquist, ABC, brains behind Ned's Job of the Week [hyperlink to www.nedsjotw.com], a weekly portal featuring a listing of various communication positions from around the country, Heather R. Huhman [hyperlink to www.twitter.com/heatherhuhman <http://www.twitter.com/heatherhuhman> ], founder and president of Come Recommended [hyperlink to www.comerecommended.com <http://www.comerecommended.com/> ], and Kate Perrin, president of Professional Solutions [link to www.PRstaffing.com <http://www.PRstaffing.com/> ] and longtime member of the IABC/Washington.
