Description of Duties:

 

•Coordination for the integration of Joint capabilities and enablers that provide a high-to medium fidelity model of the operational environment (OE) and Opposing Forces (OPFOR) at the CTC’s and during Army Home Station Training (HST) events enhanced by modeling and simulation.

•Advise Director G2 Training on how to integrate virtual simulators and constructive models to replicate a relevant Joint OE/OPFOR in support of the Army ITE at the CTC’s and at Home Stations.

•Facilitates the process that secures funding to support the integration of Joint capabilities and enablers at the CTC’s and at Home Stations IAW policies established by the new Deputy Director, J7, Joint and Coalition Warfighting (DD J7 JCW).

•Provide SME support in the identification and validation of Joint OE/OPFOR capability gaps at CTC’s and Army Home Stations and work to fill these gaps through coordination with DD J7 JCW and other service representatives.  Ensure Joint capability gaps identified as enduring requirements are captured in Joint Capability Integration Development System (JCIDS) documents.

•Capture lessons learned derived from the integration of Joint OE/OPFOR capabilities and enablers and recommend improvements in order to maintain an adaptive and relevant Joint training environment at the CTC’s and at Home Stations.

•Initiate and engage in collaborative efforts that ensure current Joint initiatives (e.g. Man-portable Aircraft Survivability Equipment Trainer’s, etc) are funded, sustained and integrated into training IAW established planning guidance.

•Prepare for and attend meetings that address Army equities in establishing and sustaining a viable Joint OE/OPFOR at the CTC’s and Home Stations.

•Provide written Army Joint OE/OPFOR program updates as required to include Accreditation/Validation reports, technical reports and trip reports.

 

Requirements for the Position:

 

•A bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts or Technical required, Master’s degree preferred and 10-15 years of related  work experience.

•Synopsis:  G2 Training (OE/OPFOR) supports enhanced joint operational capability at the CTC’s and Army Home Stations by providing a high fidelity model of the operational environment IAW the Army ITE concept.  G2 Training manages, modernizes, and validates the application of the OE/OPFOR program to ensure OE condition-setting complexities are integrated in live, virtual, constructive, and gaming (LVC-G) domains in all Army full spectrum operations (FSO) training and education venues to drive unit and leader development within Joint, Interagency, Intergovernmental, Multinational (JIIM) environments.

•Possess excellent communication skills, both orally and written

•Must be a graduate of the Command and General Staff College

•Must have Combined Arms experience

•Must have experience with Combat Training Centers

•Must have staff experience; Battalion, Brigade.

•Must have an understanding of modeling and simulation applications in the Joint training environment.

•US Citizenship is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain and retain the designated Government clearance (TS). Must have an active Top Secret clearance.

 

Travel: Quarterly business trips (TDYs) of approximately 3-5 workdays should be expected, with some lasting up to 10 days. Some TDYs will include field  training conditions in which the incumbent is required to wear military helmets, travel in military tactical vehicles, and sleep in the field.

The Boom Operator Instructor is responsible for the accomplishment of ground-based training for all KC-10 Flight Crew Specialties, RNLAF KDC-10, Israeli AFKC-707 and Italian/Japanese AF KC-767 Boom Operators/Loadmasters and instructs and measures training progress of students who train in the established aircrew training curriculum.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

 

Conducts briefings and debriefings and counsels with assigned students for the purpose of developing and maintaining a high level of proficiency.

 

Provides inputs for courseware corrections and modifications and to update training policies and procedures.

 

Assists in project and development work as assigned.

 

Conducts Fight Crew training in tanker operating procedures using the classroom, training systems, and devices such as Computer Based Training (CBT), Boom Operator Trainer (BOT), Cargo Load Trainer (CLT), Flight Training Device (FTD), Weapon System Trainer (WST) and the KC-10 aircraft.

 

Evaluates, diagnoses, critiques student performance, identifies learning difficulties, recognizes objectives not accomplished, prescribes remedial instruction and documents training progress.

 

Operates Student Management system.  Interfaces with students and provides on-the-spot remediation or determines other courses of action.

 

Extracts student data, analyzes results, and prepares for student review sessions.

 

Serves as aircraft type Boom Operator, Loadmaster ands Aerial ‘Refueling Subject Matter Expert for all Flight Crew Specialties and other personnel as required.

 

Flies BOT (as required) to maintain air-refueling skills.

 

Flies on the airplane (as required) in an observer status to maintain currency on

 

operational procedures and to observe student progress.

 

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Performs administrative duties relative to training such as record keeping, monitoring student progress,  counseling,  training development and maintenance of training programs.

 

Periodically attends Operations Group Stan/Eval Boards (SEB) and Training Review Panels (TRP), as well as Flight Training Unit (FTU) instructor meetings (when FCA is unavailable).

 

Attends HQ AMC curriculum review, HQ AMC Stan/Eval Conferences or Systems Program Office Flight Manual Review Conferences (FMRC) as required (when FCA is unavailable).

 

Travels to the other KC-10 training site to supplement/augment training, testing or courseware development if required.

 

Performs other travel as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skill and Ability:

 

Ability to  interface with  students  and  provide on-the-spot remediation or determine other courses of action.

Solid knowledge of the KC-10 aircraft systems, instrument flying procedures and operating procedures.

 

Solid knowledge of instructional principles and theories pertaining to aircrew training systems.

 

Ability to obtain SECRET Security Clearance.

 

Successfully accomplish an annual internal standardization evaluation.

 

Education or Formal Training:

 

An Associate’s Degree from a regionally or nationally accredited postsecondary institution is required. Additionally, a 12 Semester Hour CCAF  approved Teaching Internship (Practicum) course is desired.

 

Experience:

 

Special emphasis is placed on experience as a flight instructor in aircraft type and on instructional experience in general. Minimum ten (10) years flying experience as a military crewmember. Minimum of two (2) years of flight instructor experience as an in-flight refueling specialist.

Position will support the Common Systems Integration (CSI) Product Office New Equipment Training (NET) Team, located at Redstone Arsenal, AL with travel throughout CONUS and OCONUS.

 

Plan and execute training programs of instruction (POIs) for the One System Remote Video Terminal (OSRVT) at fielding locations as required.  Plan and execute training programs, using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as classroom training, demonstrations, and on-the-job training.  Analyze training needs to improve existing training programs.

 

Requirements for the Position:

 

•High School Diploma.

 

•7 years relevant experience.

 

•Experience training end users and Soldiers is required.

 

•Proficient with using MS Office applications; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

 

•Position requires strong communication and briefing skills.

 

•Experience operating the One System Remote Video Terminal is preferred.
