Description of Duties:

 

This is a temporary time position to provide the conversion of the current Technical Manuals and Training Aids from English (U.S) into Dari for the purpose of training Afghanistan forces. Duties include the review and comment on documentation that has been converted by software conversation packages from English to Dari to insure accuracy of the data/drawings/messages/directions/warnings.  Documentation to include Technical Manuals, Training Aids and Computer Screen captures.  Additional duties include efforts to resolve discrepancies noted during the review and certification of the final documents for accuracy..

 

Requirements for the Position:

 

•In order to develop accurate manuals the task will require bi-lingual interpreters that are fluent in both English and Dari to insure the technical content, including messages/directions/warnings, provided are technically accurate when converted to Dari.

 

•​Bachelor’s degree.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

•8 years of relevant experience.

 

•Proficiency with using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

-Documented experience in Tactical Communications Equipment highly preferred but not required.

 

-Documented operational experience in serving as a Tactical Coxswain and/or Boat crew highly preferred.

 

-Willing and available to travel up to 250 days per year.

 

-Willing to relocate to the Greater Lafayette, LA area. Familiarity with Metal Shark unique boats, systems, processes and personnel will require considerable time at our production facility.

 

-Must be fluent in the English and Spanish languages. Language proficiency must include the ability to teach in both languages. Other languages are a plus.

Description of Duties:

 

The Systems and Network Administrator is responsible for the various technologies managed by the Information System department.  This includes planning, design, implementation, management, troubleshooting, and optimization of all servers, applications, and all aspects of the networking environment.  This person will work with IT staff, and end-user staff to manage information systems requirements.  This person will also assist in resolving end-user issues, help to advise MCR management on appropriate technology solutions, and provide training and guidance both to end-users and other IT staff as required.

 

Responsibilities

 

Acquisition and Deployment

 

•Oversee the installation and configuration of all hardware and software in the enterprise

 

•Interact with vendors, partners, and internal resources to compare technology solutions for functionality and price

 

•Develop and maintain procedures for standardization of devices and applications, and implement process automation for workstation and server imaging and software deployment

 

•Daily Network and System Management

 

•Manage all servers and applications, monitoring resource usage and error conditions, and troubleshoot issues

 

•Develop and maintain backup and data retention standards; monitor backups for accuracy and regularly test data restoration procedures

 

•Develop procedures for inventory management for all hardware and software in the environment

 

•Manage security infrastructure, including anti-virus and firewalls

 

•Manage all networking equipment, including routers, switches, VPN concentrators, wireless access points, and UPS’s; monitor for errors, potential optimizations, and resource utilization

The sole purpose of the FNC construct is to maximize the potential for a technology to transition to the acquisition community.

 

The program specialist is expected to develop a general understanding of the science and technology funded in the Capable Manpower program. The specialist performs a broad range of duties and interacts with a variety of civilian, military, and contractor personnel. The specialist must communicate internally with ONR business units as well as externally with acquisition stakeholders and technology developers. The specialist assists in the mechanics of awarding grants and contracts to ONR’s performers, monitoring performance, and communicating program and project status internally and externally.

 

Specific duties include:

•Assist Office of Naval Research (ONR) personnel in overall technical program management by assisting in program/project planning and execution, program/project financial reviews, data analyses, and conference and seminar planning and management.

 

•Coordinate program efforts among Program Officers, Contracting Officers, and the contracted technical task performers.

 

•Develop documentation necessary to procure, fund, monitor and complete (or terminate) contracts and grants.

 

•Review program/project status reports and assess progress.

 

•Develop program plans and budgets, track program funding (commitments, obligations, and expenditures).

 

•Schedule and attend program/project preliminary and critical design reviews, program/project technical and financial reviews, and key demonstrations or tests.

 

•Prepare draft analysis reports, presentations, testimonies, speeches, and other reports relative to program/project goals, objectives and results.

 

Requirements for the Position:

 

•BA or BS degree in Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Education or related field.

 

•0-3 years relevant experience; planning, coordinating, and documenting meetings, generating financial reports, creating and updating Excel spreadsheets, etc.

 

•Must have excellent communications skills; ability to communicate complex ideas verbally and in writing.

 

•Strong attention to detail.

 

•Ability to learn quickly on the job.

 

•Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and direction, as well as in a small team environment.

 

•Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook); with a strong focus on Excel.

 

•Previous DoD or DON experience especially in a Research and Development, Science Technology, program management, or acquisition management environments.

 

•US Citizenship is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain and retain the designated Government clearance (Secret clearance eligible).

 

•Must be available to travel as required.

The individual must be an experienced professional who is proactive and results-oriented, with solid relational skills, must be detailed oriented with the ability to multi-task and demonstrated experience interfacing with senior executives and all levels of management.

 

Advanced strategic thinking and planning, advanced oral and written communication skills, and advanced problem-solving skills are required.

 

The individual must possess strong presentation skills.
