Experience: 5 years as a writer, copy editor or similar profession with AP journalism type experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, i.e., Journalism, Communications, English, etc.
Communications Specialist for a DoD PAO/PR Support Contract: A candidate for this position must possess and independently apply a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments to coordinate with customers for explicit guidance regarding communication activities in order to promote public understanding of the military organization, programs, and products.
- This individual will be responsible for the oversight, development and execution of strategic public affairs programs and campaigns leveraging all available communications conduits and emerging technologies to most effectively communicate the military organizations’ mission and philosophy.
- Serve as a Public Affairs Officer and conduct the public affairs program by communicating information through verbal, written and electronic media and serving as the single voice to external media, Soldiers, and Industry of the organization’s products and programs.
- Recommend strategies to facilitate understanding and support from industry, other federal agencies, Congress, the general public, the acquisition community and the Service as a whole, via a wide range of communication media.
- Assist in the development and transmittal of informational materials to a variety of publications to enhance the understanding of programs and capabilities as well as assist in the production, direction of videos and multimedia presentations.
- Plan, develop, conduct and document the results of recurring and ad hoc media analysis activities.
This position will use a variety of methods and techniques in achieving communication goals such as: product exhibits, brochures, pamphlets, graphics, local and national news, Armed Forces Radio, Television Services, etc. The PAO for this position will implement the Strategic Communication Plan to improve relationships and partnerships by informing target audiences of the Organization’s mission and accomplishments, resulting to better support to Soldier products and programs.
Security Clearance: Must possess a Secret or higher Security Clearance or be able to pass a DOD Security Investigation.
Place of Performance: This Communications Specialist position job performance will be with the US ARMY PEO SOLDIER organization at Ft. Belvoir, VA. Teleworking will be on an as needed, prior approval basis.
