Job Description
The Business Development Manager (Global Support Services) will have both “keep it sold” and find “net new” business responsibilities. This position will support the Airborne Electronic Warfare, Alternate Mission Equipment, Electronics Manufacturing Services business, Land Based Radar Systems and Command and Control Systems application areas for post-production or installation support. The individual in this role will report to the Vice President, Operations with synergies to Business Development and close connection with Terma North America’s Sr. Management Team. This position will be based out of Terma North America’s Warner Robins, GA or Washington, DC office.
Individual is expected to place emphasis on the identification, qualification, and positioning for new, existing, and sustainment business. This individual will develop major pursuits, manage customer relationships and contact plans, participate in solution concepts, and sales opportunities within the Department of Defense and for major industry primes.
Duties
- Overall responsibility for the early identification and development of Support and Services opportunities through to the “capture” go to contract closing phase
- Responsible and accountable for meeting defined individual and organizational order intake objectives
- Works closely with the Terma Key Account Managers to leverage existing development activities for follow on and continuing sustainment opportunities.
- Develops focused campaign capture plan objectives, strategies and tactics in conjunction with quantifying and qualifying opportunities for the Company forecast.
- Must work closely with end user customers and the Airborne Systems business team to align and shape the technical and budget requirements required for program definition.
- Must stay closely coupled and/or synchronized to the extent possible with the Terma A/S parent organization and be accustom to communication across time zones via various mediums (VTC, phone, email, text, etc.)
- Travel to customer locations throughout the U.S. to develop a broad customer base for the Business Unit, and related market segments, Develop solutions that consider potential impacts on client’s business position.
- Partners and works closely with clients to further understand and anticipate their needs.
- Develop a strong understanding of each target client’s business operations and goals to perform new business development activities with existing and new customers.
- Work with Terma team in Denmark and major U.S. partner organizations to develop new opportunities with customers.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with leaders in the government and within industry and become known as a professional resource to the industry.
- Identify and qualify customer and end customer solutions.
- Participate in selected Government/Industry Associations and Government briefings to Industry, and Industry briefings to Government.
Skills/Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science Degree in a technical field (Engineering or Aerospace) or equivalent experience required.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience with substantial exposure within the DOD and commercial aerospace sector.
- Experience in developing business opportunities and conducting marketing campaigns with some of the following customer communities; USAF, ANG, USN, SAF/IA FMS, Commercial Aerospace Prime Contractors and DOD oriented Prime Contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Boeing.
- Experience in Business Development activities as/for a “supplier company” where the customer is an aircraft prime is very desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in the following business disciplines: strategic planning; implementation of strategic and operational plans; proposal writing and management of the proposal process. Must have a good understanding of government procurement process, DOD contracts, regulations and procedures, and DOD operations and sustainment services.
- Must possess relevant DOD and or military experience, insight into the DOD budget process along with a working knowledge of International Defense related business related to Foreign Military Sales (FMS).
- Must have working experience and knowledge in the Aerospace and Defense Logistics community, including Global Sustainment Strategies and trends.
- Technical background must be sufficient to develop and provide customer briefings, shape customer requirements and funding strategies around Terma products in the context of follow on support to electronic warfare and aircraft avionics integration.
- Experience with FedBizOps.gov post-production sustainment opportunities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are required to develop external/internal point papers, presentations and business plans.
- Must travel extensively (50% or more)
- Security Clearance required.
